AOC Italy awarded as Welfare Champion13 February 2023
AOC Italy has been awarded the “Welfare Champion” rating of the Italian Welfare Index PMI, an index that evaluates the level of corporate welfare in small and medium-sized Italian enterprises. It was announced that AOC had been selected from more than 6500 companies nationwide to receive the prestigious employer award.
More than 6500 Italian companies from all production sectors were interviewed about the initiatives they have implemented for their employees within specific areas of corporate welfare such as Social services and protection; Health and assistance; Work-life balance; Economic support for employees; Development of human capital; Support for education and culture; Rights, diversity and security; Social responsibility towards consumers and suppliers; Community welfare
AOC has been trying to obtain this award for 5 years. Now the company has been rated with 5 stars (the highest score possible), among a select group of only 121 Italian companies. AOC participated in the awards ceremony in Rome organized by leading TV station TG5, where Marina Elvira Calderone, Minister of Employment and Social Affairs, and Fabio Tamburini, Deputy MD of TG5, presented the award certificates.
“Participating in the Welfare Index PMI is very important for the company, because AOC wants to be a good employer and a valued contributor to local community development”, explains Umberto Colpani, Site Manager for the AOC Filago operations. “We want our employees to be proud of working for AOC when talking with family, friends and other people they know.”
The Filago operation makes a broad portfolio of products, which are sold in Europe, the Americas and Asia. In spite of such product range complexity and a highly dynamic demand planning resulting from a diverse customer base, the Filago team has been able to meet tough customer requirements both in quality and supply security, even during the challenging Covid-19 times.
The benefits AOC provides to its employees in Italy include award and bonus programs, availability of a local canteen, flexible working hours, personal development opportunities, health (incl. free flu vaccinations), and bonuses for employees’ children if they do well at school. The company supports transparent, ethical management practices and strives to continuously improve its performance as a good employer.
“In general, it is not about the money, but about truly paying attention to employees and their wellbeing, how we appreciate their support and dedication, and how we recognize individual performance”, adds Stefano Pulcini, HR Manager at the Filago site. “The award is a recognition for AOC not just talking about employee welfare, but also acting accordingly and going the extra mile.”
AOC participates in external programs supporting the local community, for instance through participation in local scholarship programs enabling students to obtain financial support for further studies. The company also provides multiple opportunities for traineeships, from lab support to business roles.
“Next year we will be participating again”, smiles Umberto Colpani. “We will surely have many contenders, but I am confident AOC is doing well!”
